Patriots Starter Projections: Who’s in?

With the initial 53 man roster set, let’s look ahead to Week 1 and see who starts. This is simply a prediction of the starting 11 for both sides of the ball (and special teams) and it is barring any injuries that may happen. Let’s start with the offense.

QB: Mac Jones. The 15th overall pick beat out Cam Newton, so he obviously has potential. Let’s see what he can do against Miami’s defense.

RB: Damien Harris. No surprise here, however I do get a sneaky feeling that we may see Rhamondre Stevenson a fair bit as well after a good preseason.

WR: Jakobi Meyers and Nelson Agholor. Not the most flashy of WR duos but they are solid and can get the job done, also expect to see Kendrick Bourne sprinkled in as well for some extra speed.

TE: Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith. The 2 tight end set is back and they should be deadly, seeing as they can create mismatches and free up out receivers.

OL: Isaiah Wynn, Mike Onwenu, David Andrews, Shaq Mason, and Trent Brown. This unit has the potential to be the best offensive line in the league, if Wynn can stay healthy, there’s no telling what these guys can accomplish.

Defense:

DL: Chase Winovich, Lawrence Guy, and Deatrich Wise Jr. Once again, they aren’t flashy, but they get the job done and then some.

LB: Dont’a Hightower, Kyle Van Noy, Ja’whaun Bentley, and Matt Judon. Words cannot accurately express how excited I am for this unit, they’ll be especially dangerous with the addition of Judon and having Van Noy back.

CB: JC Jackson and Jonathan Jones. With Stephon Gilmore on the PUP list, this is JC Jackson’s chance to prove he should be paid like a CB1.

S: Devin McCourty and Kyle Dugger. Dugger should take another step in the right direction this season and McCourty can help him immensely.

Special Teams:

K: Quinn Nordin. Wow. I personally don’t understand how he beat Nick Folk for the starting job, but if Coach Belichick believes in him, I do too.

P: Jake Bailey. The most underrated punter in the league, his leg strength is only rivaled by Johnny Hekker from the Rams.

LS: Joe Cardona. The reliable Joe Cardona is back and as underrated as ever.

These are (probably) our week 1 starters and this squad looks vastly improved from a season ago and they could definitely turn some heads. LET THE SEASON BEGIN!!!
